Soberly Being Merry

I’ve been getting merry,

Drinking coke and whisky,

My favourite tipple is brandy

But regrettably it’s costly.

I like the occasional beer

To raise a toast and cheer

That a New Year is nearly here –

With every day getting near. 

I like the occasional drink,

But I don’t like getting drunk,

I like to still rationally think

And to have my wits about me.

I socialise with my family

Who also act soberly merry.
