A Stranger

I've just been to see my Mum,
She is looking down and glum
As her Partner has dementia
A tormenting type of torture.

He stresses her out with his pacing
About, his mind seems to be racing
Incoherent phrases that he’s relating
To me, she and we who are suffering.

A shadow of his sane former-self
Suffering this unhappy, ill-health,
He has lost his pride and dignity
Experiencing this insane insanity.

Nevertheless, they both soldier on
With heart-breaking times begun,
He is a trial to her patient patience
And caring for him perseverance.

My Mum is sadly getting on in years
And while she holds back her fears,
She is still tormented by a stranger
With her safety in possible danger.

An edited piece. My Father-In-Law is now permanently in a home for dementia patients.

Thank you. Love love, Andrew.
